Bulldogs knock out Morgan in overtime
It was virtually all Judge Memorial for the first three quarters. Lewis Walker had a nine-yard TD run and Sean Sellwood connected on 16-yard field goal in the first half. In the third quarter, after a Keenyn Walker interception, Tyson Moll ran one in from the five, and Davan Wilkins later put one in from the three. Lewis Walker led all rushers in the game with 112 yards.
"This is an unbelievable feeling," Lewis Walker said. "We've got to keep working to continue winning, but we proved we have the hearts of champions."
After virtually no offensive scoring in the first three quarters, the Morgan Trojans came back from a 24-5 deficit by scoring on the opening drive of the fourth and then converting two Judge Memorial turnovers into touchdowns.
"Oh, man. That Morgan crew is a scrappy bunch," Judge Memorial coach James Cordova said. "They are always, always a class act and they never give up. My stomach was in the bottom of my shoes the whole fourth quarter."
With less than three minutes remaining, the Bulldogs went to length of the field to get into field goal range for Sellwood. He connected on a 20-yarder with 42 seconds left in the game to force overtime.
In overtime, Morgan got the first possession and Kinsey ran the ball in from the one to put the Trojans up by six. On the kick attempt, there was a muffed snap attempt that led to a fumble and the Bulldogs recovered. During Judge's possession, Lewis Walker ran the ball 23 yards to set up Zach McKown for the two-yard touchdown run. McKown's TD was his only run of the night for Judge. Sellwood converted the extra point to give the Bulldogs the one-point win.
"We just put our trust in our kicker and he came through," Lewis Walker said.
