Shifting alliances — Utah County political party affiliation

In the past year, the number of registered Republicans in Utah County has dropped by more than 500, the number of registered Democrats has gone up by more than 300, but voters with no party affiliation have ballooned by more than 5,000.

Republican — 111,368
Unaffiliated — 108,605
Democrat — 9,746
American Party — 1,703
Independent — 1,521

November 2006

Republican — 111,912
Unaffiliated — 103,540
Democrat — 9,461
Independent — 2,104
American Party — 1,849
