Some residents are saying West Jordan shouldn't break off from the Jordan School District even if the money stayed in their city because the other cities on the west side of Salt Lake County need West Jordan's support and money to build new schools in Herriman and Riverton.
"We're starting to sound like the east side," Auger said. "What is wrong with sticking together and staying as a community? You don't want to help my grandkids in Herriman have more schools. You don't want to help my grandkids in Riverton to have more schools. How can we have a good conscience and live with ourselves if we say, 'I'm just going to worry about me?'"
West Jordan's last scheduled informational meeting on the issue will be from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, at Joel P. Jensen Middle School, 8105 S. 3200 West in West Jordan.
