No surprises on Jazz roster
As expected, shooting guard C.J. Miles is listed despite not getting the fully guaranteed, multiyear contract he sought while spending the summer as a restricted free agent.
Instead, the seldom-used 20-year-old who was drafted straight out of his Dallas high school in 2005 is expected to go into camp with only a partially guaranteed one-year, $945,610 qualifying offer and hoping to secure a roster spot for his third NBA season.
Thirteen others on the Jazz's 17-man camp roster have fully guaranteed contracts, including disgruntled starting small forward Andrei Kirilenko, who is expected to be on hand for media day on Monday despite spending much of the offseason making it known he does not want to continue playing in Utah.
The other 12: guards Morris Almond, Ronnie Brewer, Gordan Giricek, Jason Hart, Ronnie Price and Deron Williams; forwards Carlos Boozer, Matt Harpring and Paul Millsap; and centers Jarron Collins, Kyrylo Fesenko and Mehmet Okur.
Starting power forward Boozer is expected to report late to camp, with permission from the team, while spending time at home in Miami tending to a serious medical matter involving one of his three young sons.
Three others on the Jazz roster forwards Damone Brown and Donnell Harvey and center Kevin Lyde come into camp as free-agent longshots hoping to win regular-season work with the club.
Lyde, a Temple product still looking to make his NBA debut, spent last season with the NBA Development League champion Dakota Wizards. He also played in July for the Jazz's Rocky Mountain Revue summer-league team.
Brown, a four-year NBA veteran, spent last season with OSG Phoenix of the Japanese SuperLeague and Sioux Falls of the D-League. His last NBA play was with Washington in 2004-05, when he averaged 3.9 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 14 games. The Syracuse product also has seen limited action with Philadelphia, Toronto and New Jersey.
Harvey, a five-year NBA vet, toiled last season in Turkey for Besiktas ColaTurka Istanbul, averaging 14.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.4 steals. The University of Florida product last played in the NBA for New Jersey in 2004-05, averaging 2.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in three games, and also has played 200-plus NBA games for Dallas, Denver, Orlando and Phoenix.
