New home is going to an injured soldier
The event is from 4 to 8 p.m. at Nolan Park. In case of inclement weather the event will be moved to the Ranches Academy one block west of the park at 7789 N. Tawny Owl Circle.
Three injured soldiers who have returned from Iraq and are no longer able to work were nominated by the military as potential recipients for a new home that will be constructed specifically to accommodate their disabilities.
The free event includes a free barbecue served by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion and provided by Viking Feast. The military will have equipment and vehicles on display. Entertainment will be provided by Alex Boye, Jaden Bliss and the group from the television show "Create the Group" on K-JZZ TV.
The "Home for a Hero" project is sponsored by Alta Vista Homes LLC, Homes For Our Troops (a national nonprofit), Mike's Guardian Eagle Foundation (a local nonprofit), KUTV 2 and Eagle Mountain.
To get to Nolan Park take I-15 to the Lehi Main Street exit and go west approximately seven miles to Ranches Parkway. Turn left at Ranches Parkway to Pony Express Parkway and go right. Turn left on Red Hawk Ranch Road and follow the signs to Nolan Park.
