FRUIT HEIGHTS — City Council candidates recently were selected through a special convention.

Candidates for city office in Fruit Heights are selected differently than in most Utah cities. The city does not hold primary elections, instead selecting candidates at a convention.

Fruit Heights has three City Council seats open in the Nov. 6 election.

The six people selected at the Sept. 13 convention to run in the election include incumbent Craig Hill and five others — Bruce Allred, Mike Anderson, Kris T. Christensen, Wynn Hubrich and Lowell Knighton.

Current City Council members Steve Brough and DeeEll Fifield are not in the running for re-election.

A date for a "Meet the Candidates Night" has not yet been set.
