When the resort opened, it offered three chairlifts and a 63-passenger aerial tramway, which was only recently replaced. The resort boasts the greatest vertical rise (4,139 feet) of any ski area in North America. He retired from the resort in 1992 and died in 1999 at the age of 84.

Smith, who has only an initial for a first name, introduced Brighton Ski Area to skiers by installing a T-bar near what is now the base of the resort. He retired in 1972 and passed away in 2001.

Between 1957 and 1967, she dominated women's skiing, posting impressive finishes in the Intermountain Championships, the Intermountain Junior and Senior National Championships, the Western Regional Championships, the Snow Cup, Roche Cup and Harriman Cup events, the U.S. National Championships and the Olympic Winter Games. She placed 21st in the downhill in the 1964 Games in Innsbruck, Austria, as a member of the U.S. Olympic Team.
