Body of Magna man found in Jordanelle
Jordanelle State Park ranger Jeff Smith spotted the body of Bryan Vance about 7:30 a.m., between 400 feet to 500 feet from the Rock Cliff Boat Ramp.
On Tuesday, Vance was trying to launch his boat when it got away from him, Smith said. Vance took off his shirt, put his wallet and keys in his truck and started swimming out to his boat.
For an unknown reason, Vance was not able to reach it and drowned. Investigators could only speculate on what happened Thursday, ranging from hypothermia to a heart attack.
The water temperature where his body was found was 65 degrees, Smith said.
Meanwhile, rangers at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area on the Utah-Arizona border recovered the body of a 64-year-old man Wednesday who drowned.
John Lord, 64, of Golden, Colo., was swimming with friends from a houseboat in Halls Creek Bay to a small island. He had gone 50 of the estimated 75 yards to the island when friends said he showed signs of distress, according to a statement from the park.
