FRUIT HEIGHTS — Candidates for city office in Fruit Heights are selected differently than in most Utah cities. The city doesn't hold primary elections, instead selecting candidates at a convention.

Fruit Heights has three council seats open in the Nov. 6 election.

Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old and have lived in Fruit Heights for one year immediately preceding the election.

Those wishing to apply for candidacy can do so by attending the convention Thursday at 7 p.m. at city hall, 910 S. Mountain Road.

Everyone eligible to vote in the November election in Fruit Heights is invited to attend the convention where citizens may choose to be a member of the Pinecone or Sagebrush party.
