It would also cost the city about $1.2 million, which would include buying rights of way and land from the church.
Smith suggested, and the council agreed, that rather than connect the dots at 400 North and 400 West, other alternatives could be considered, such as a signal at 200 North.
Mark Christensen, city engineer, explained that with a potential connection the traffic and speed would increase, but the changes weren't unlike other streets in Lindon.
"We believe there will be an impact on 400 West, with 3,000 cars a day," Christensen said. "It sounds like a lot of cars and it is a lot of cars, but ... we believe it's an appropriate and reasonable impact. We feel that this connection is an important one."
The road would also allow for faster response times from emergency services, like police, fire and medical, said Pleasant Grove/Lindon Police Capt. Cody Cullimore in a statement to the City Council.
