Provo firm to produce movie on Emma Smith
"Emma Smith: My Story," is set to be produced by a team of filmmakers and actors that helped create films including "Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration" and "The Testaments," according to a press release issued Wednesday by the Candlelight Media Group.
Those films were produced for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the Smith film is shown daily to audiences at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, as was "The Testaments" before it.
The new film is a private endeavor and is not being produced by the LDS Church, but a press conference scheduled this morning will be at the BYU Motion Picture Studio in Provo, which is owned by the church. The cast and crew are set to film a segment of the new production as part of the news conference.
Gracia Jones, author and a great-great-granddaughter of Joseph and Emma Smith, will serve as a consultant for the film project. All proceeds from the film's eventual distribution will go to support the Joseph Smith Jr. and Emma Hale Smith Historical Society, the release said.
