Kate Kendell, director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, grew up in Utah and received a law degree from the University of Utah.

The dinner is 7 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Salt Palace. Tickets are $100. For more information, visit www.alliesdinner.org.
