INTERMOUNTAIN CUP WRAPS UP: The Intermountain Cup will hold its season finale on Saturday in Evanston, Wyo. Most of the top mountain bike racers in the region will beat the dirt trails around the High Uintas south of town for the Wolverine Ridge XC as they try to secure a few extra points to improve their series standings. Racing starts bright and early with the youngsters hitting the trails at 9 a.m. The older riders will mash their way through 28 miles of trails chasing a win.

Bart Gillespie leads the men's pro standings ahead of Cannondale teammate Thomas Spannring. Kara Holley has a nice advantage over Jennifer Hanks, but with double points on the line that might change.

RIDE FOR MARTY: Marty Kasteler was intentionally run over by a white delivery van June 17 while riding his bicycle late at night with his wife, Nicki. The driver is still on the run, and Kasteler faces many obstacles as a result of his life-threatening injuries.

A fund-raiser bike ride will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. at Liberty Park. Though not required, a $10 donation is being encouraged with all funds going to pay for Kasteler's medical expenses. Hundreds of dollars in donated goods will be raffled off at a post-ride auction.

RIDE OF THE WEEK: A century is usually thought of as the signature event in an avid cyclist's calendar. If 100 measly miles just isn't enough for you, try the Desperado Dual on Saturday. Starting at the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Panguitch, as many as 500 hearty cyclists will roll out at 6:30 a.m. for as many as 200 miles through some of the country's most scenic territory. If 200 miles is too much, you can always settle for the 100-mile option. It's not too late to jump on board. Visit DesperadoDual.com for more information.
