Another local that was quite pleased with his result was Paul Petersen of Logan. Petersen won the Ogden Marathon earlier this year and finished fifth with a time of 30:31.
"I thought it was a great course and a great race," Petersen said. "It was a little humid, which is probably good for the marathon guys, but made it a little bit tougher. I was pretty happy with how I finished. I got in a group of about six guys, mostly high school racers I think, and stayed with them most of the way before I slowly pulled out. I am not as young as I once was, but I was happy with how hard I pushed myself. I thought I kicked it in pretty good, and I am happy with how I ran overall."
A couple of other notable runners were Simon Sawe, a former DMN 10K winner and the 2006 DMN marathon winner. He finished third at 29:54. Trevor Ball, a former All-American at Utah State was fourth with a time of 30:15.
