The International Vietnamese Children's Choir will perform a free concert in the Salt Lake Central Stake Center, 951 E. 100 South, on Saturday. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.

The choir, featuring 34 children ages 7-14, is co-sponsored by Salt Lake's own International Children's Choir. In addition to the singing, the Vietnamese choir members will play an array of native instruments.

Ralph Woodward, director of the International Children's Choir, said he was contacted by an oral surgeon who traveled to Vietnam to do some reconstructive surgery. "He and his wife fell in love with the choir and have worked for a couple of years to get them to the United States to perform," Woodward said. "And they contacted us to help set up a concert here in Salt Lake. They are a wonderful group, and we're excited to have this opportunity."
