"It will be more fun with a crowd," said Chris Prows, 16, dressed as Commodore Norrington of the British navy from the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean."

Using an old Halloween costume, Prows is ready to entertain those who will line the parade route.

"I'm really theatrical," he said. "I'll do a little dance and click my heels."

The Eduardo and Lilya Rodriguez family will represent their home country of Argentina. Sons Jose, 16, and Joaquin, 8, will dress as gauchos, with their sister Sofia, 11, also in native dress.

With the float a hodgepodge of donated towels, sheets and other items, Elwood said it represents the people who crafted it.

"It's become a patchwork of people's lives," he said.

Stake President Brian Wolsey was proud both of the float and the work so many people did to create it.

"It represents what's good about America," Wolsey said.
