Ralph Becker, Dave Buhler and Jenny Wilson made their Salt Lake City mayoral candidacy official Monday by filing with the city Recorder's Office.

Monday was the first day mayoral candidates could file, guaranteeing them a spot on the ballot for the primary this Sept. 11.

Wilson, a Democrat and Salt Lake County Council member, arrived at the Recorder's Office with her husband and children, turning in a total of 402 signatures on the city's candidate petition forms, 87 more than the 315 required by the city, she said in a news release. Wilson gathered the signatures in addition to paying the filing fee.

Buhler is a Republican and Salt Lake City councilman, while Becker is Democratic leader of the Utah House.

Other mayoral candidates who have not yet formally filed for office are former City Councilman Keith Christensen, Robert K. Muscheck and Centro Civico Mexicano Director John Renteria.
