"I want none of Rocky Anderson's money," he said.
Hansen said he is pulling from the 222 S. Main project because, in addition to financial assistance from the city, developers of large projects need the full support of a city's administration.
Even so, he and council members said that they expect the project to go forward as planned. Wasatch had worked with Hamilton Partners to secure the money and design for the project, and that money will remain with the project, Hansen said.
Anderson's second term ends at the start of 2008, and he is not seeking re-election.
Hansen said he and Anderson have had an amicable relationship in the past. Both grew up in Logan, and Wasatch has contributed to Anderson's campaigns.
"He and I have never had a cross word, ever," Hansen said. But their relationship changed when Bush came to town, he added.
The RDA loaned $6 million to the 222 S. Main project to help build a parking garage for the tower. That garage will include 100 parking stalls available to the general public.
