PROVO — The Mountainland Association of Governments and a group of Utah County mayors adopted a resolution Thursday in support of a connection for the Mountain View Corridor at 2100 North in Lehi.

The Utah Department of Transportation has chosen the 2100 North connection as its preferred alternative, but Lehi officials are opposed to the connection. Instead, the city wants UDOT to consider building a freeway connection at 4800 North, as well as several small, two- to three-lane arterial roads as east-west alternates.

Although a majority of mayors in Utah County support UDOT's preferred option, the recently approved resolution asks Lehi officials to submit a written proposal for their preferred option to UDOT. UDOT is also requested to give a formal response to the city.

If the connection at 2100 North is ultimately chosen as the only option, the resolution encourages UDOT, Lehi and MAG to work together to develop a "community-friendly" design for the road. UDOT estimates that 29 homes will need to be relocated if the road is built at 2100 North.

MAG, the regional planning organization for Utah County, also reserved the right to reconsider its endorsement, subject to input and a record of decision from the Federal Highway Administration.
