PROVO — Utah County commissioners unanimously voted Tuesday to amend an interlocal agreement with the Mountainland Association of Governments and rejoin the regional planning organization.

Before the reunion can become official, the executive board of MAG must accept Utah County back into the organization.

MAG Executive Director Darrell Cook said the board is scheduled to consider the issue at a public meeting on June 28.

Utah County separated from the organization, which oversees social services and community development grants for Utah, Wasatch and Summit counties, two years ago.

At the time, two of Utah County's commissioners felt that MAG did not distribute their funds fairly between the three counties. Utah County has the highest population, but the organization shared money with Summit and Wasatch counties equally.

Now Cook says the organization has revamped its distribution methods to give Utah County more access to community grants.
