Over the next few weeks, UTA plans to begin posting yellow notices about the redesign changes on bus stops that will be affected. In addition to route adjustments, all route numbers in Salt Lake County and in south Davis County will be changed.

UTA plans to spend another $1 million to inform the public of its changes with advertising and signs.

Justin Jones, who heads the UTA redesign project, said the agency has done its best to accommodate any public concerns. With the $1.5 million, routes will be added to areas that didn't have service under the original redesign plan, he said. In addition, UTA will create nine new routes to accommodate riders.

With the redesign, UTA hopes that ridership in Salt Lake County will increase by 12 percent over the next three years. Current weekday ridership is about 55,000. It has declined about 16 percent over the past 10 years.

For more information about the redesign and to see specific changes, go to the Web at: www.rideuta.com. UTA officials say the public can still make recommendations to change certain bus routes, but changes can't be made until August, when UTA normally adjusts its bus routes.
