EAGLE MOUNTAIN — Patrick Breeding of B5 knows what it's like to be "bum rushed."

Young, screaming girls shut down a mall concert when they mobbed him and his four brothers in Indianapolis when they rushed past guards and began tearing at their clothing. Another time, girls were passing out as the group performed in Washington, D.C.

"I guess they liked us," he said.

Family-friendly performers, the brothers are also known for having clean lyrics and age-appropriate content in their shows, said Eagle Mountain's event coordinator Linda Peterson. On Friday, June 1, they perform in Eagle Mountain's Silver Lake Amphitheater as part of the city's Pony Express Days celebration.

The group, whose name pays homage to the Jackson 5, is featured on Radio Disney and The Disney Channel and has performed with artists such as Kanye West, Usher, Fantasia, Omarion, New Edition and Diddy.

They started in St. Petersburg, Fla., at TNT but then met with rapper-producer Sean "Diddy" Combs' in an Atlanta hotel and signed with Combs' Bad Boy Records. Their mother, a dancer, then took the family north. She also taught them their early moves.

"Now we teach her how to dance," Breeding said.

The group is known for their high-energy stage show that includes street dancing, old school stepping and acrobatics.

Among their most popular tunes are "Get'cha Head in the Game" from the High School Musical soundtrack, "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf," "U Got Me" and "All I Do." Their latest album, "Don't Talk, Just Listen," is scheduled for release Sept. 18.

B5 consists of five siblings: Dustin, 19; Kelly, 18; Patrick, 16; Carnell, 15 and Bryan, 13.

Two Utah-based acts open for B5; Taja, a female trio of Bingham High School graduates from South Jordan, and Bre, a senior vocalist at Bingham High School.

Taja's debut single "Don't Even Try It" was featured on the soundtrack for the Disney TV Movie "Pixel Perfect," in which the trio also appeared.

Bre has performed locally since 2002 and is currently part of the national My Pop 8 Tour.

Radio Disney AM910 will host a "block party" as the gates open at 5 p.m. Party fare includes games, prizes and advance tickets to the new "Nancy Drew" movie.

The city plans to have several sports mascots at the block party, including BYU's Cosmo and the Salt Lake Bees' Bumble. The city is also giving away sports merchandise from BYU, the Bees and other local college and professional teams.

All profits from the B5 concert will go into the city's budget for parks improvements for the city.
