GrassRoots to honor several lawmakers
Reps. Mike Morley, R-Spanish Fork; Aaron Tilton, R-Springville; Craig Frank, R-Pleasant Grove; John Dougall, R-Highland; Glenn Donnelson, R-North Ogden; Curt Oda, R-Clearfield; Carl Wimmer, R-Herriman; Becky Lockhart, R-Provo; and Chris Herrod, R-Provo; along with Sens. Margaret Dayton, R-Orem; Howard Stephenson, R-Draper; and Scott Jenkins, R-Plain City; got the top honors in the GrassRoots' annual assessment of lawmakers.
GrassRoots measures lawmakers' votes on a dozen or so votes the conservative group believes are critical to traditional conservative values. Democrats never do very well in the GrassRoots survey and the group's awards usually go to conservative GOP legislators.
GrassRoots has long supported private school vouchers. At the noon luncheon in the Encore Grille Restaurant, 2080 West North Temple, Doug Holmes, head of Parents for Choice in Education, will be the keynote speaker.
Cost of the luncheon is $18, and reservations can be made by calling Don Guymon at 801-574-9461 (donguymon@yahoo.com) or Bill Barton 801-978-3363 (bbarton@xmission.com).
