MONTROSE, Colo. — The Montrose County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 15-year-old Utah boy who died while participating in a wilderness program for at-risk children.

The local district attorney's office decided to hand the case off to the sheriff to investigate, according to the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel.

Caleb Jensen died May 4 in a remote area near Montrose while participating in a program operated by Youth Alternative Services. Deputies were called about counselors performing CPR on a boy to revive him.

A coroner said he died from natural causes. Jensen was placed in the program by the Utah Division of Juvenile Services.

The company that operates Alternative Youth Adventures has said the death was a tragic accident.
