A chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia conference at Salt Lake Community College Miller Campus Professional Development Center, 9750 S. 300 West, Sandy. Session on May 4 is only for health care professionals and researchers. From noon to 5 p.m. May 5, the event is for the public, patients, caregivers and anyone who is interested. Registration for the 11th Annual Komen Salt Lake City Race for the Cure� is now open. More than 14,000 people are expected to run or walk the 5K race at The Gateway, 400 West and South Temple. The event funds breast cancer research, screening, education and treatment.
Individual participants can preregister at a free Health and Information Expo in the Union Pacific Depot at The Gateway, May 10 and 11, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The Health Expo, featuring many vendors and exhibits, will continue with additional sponsor booths on race day from 8-11 a.m., including a Kids' Corner with special activities.
The Komen Salt Lake City Race for the Cure� is a USATF Certified 5 kilometer course. The certification number is posted at www.komenslc.org. Award winners must be officially timed based on gun time. The top three overall breast cancer survivors, by age level, will receive awards. An awards ceremony will take place following the Survivor Parade at 10 a.m. Parking underground at The Gateway is free until noon on May 12.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's "Meet the Doctor: Blood and Marrow Stem Cell Transplantation," 6-7:15 p.m., featuring Dr. Julie Asch, associate program director of Intermountain Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at LDS Hospital. Directly after, until 8:30 p.m., they'll hold a registry drive, sponsored by the Gregg Schaub Donor Foundation, for donors ages 18-60. The program will take place at LDS Hospital's Huntsman Education Auditorium just north of the hospital, 8th Avenue and C Street. The program includes dinner and preregistration is required. Meet the Expert on Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma from 6-8 p.m. featuring Dr. Clyde Ford, clinical director of the Intermountain Center for Blood and Marrow Malignancies, and clinical social worker Sarah Gibbs. The program, which includes a free dinner, will be held at LDS Hospital's Huntsman Education Auditorium just north of the hospital, 8th Avenue and C Street. Preregistration is required.
