Catholic Community Services will host "Empty Bowls, Utah," the annual Clay Arts, Utah fund-raiser to feed the hungry Saturday from noon-4 p.m. at the St. Vincent de Paul Resource Center, 437 W. 200 South. Hundreds of handcrafted ceramic bowls by Utah artists will be offered for a donation of $15 each. For more information call 277-4030.
The Utah Arts Festival has announced that Ruby Chacon was one of five winners of a Mayor's Artist Award for 2007. Chacon will be recognized by the mayor during the 31st annual Utah Arts Festival, June 21-24.
Eleven Utah artists were selected to be in the "32nd Annual Western Federation of Watercolor Societies Exhibition." The show will be in Arvada, Colo., from June1-Nov. 11. Utah artists in the show are Frank Fuller, Cara Koolmees, Maura Naughton, Steven K. Sheffield, Cynthia Budge, Lynda Burruss, Stephanie Carter-Neilson, Carolyn Eckert, Pat Heberling, Sherry Meidell and Irene Rampton.
Three Brigham Young University art students received honors in the "Society of Illustrators 2007 Student Scholarship Competition and Exhibition." Bryan Beus won the Kirchoff/Wohlberg Award, Daniel Hughes won an award in memory of Barnett Plotkin and Rusty Gregory won a spot in the student exhibition as well.
The Utah Watercolor Society will offer a weeklong watercolor workshop, Monday through Friday, with Linda Kemp. Open to members for $275 and nonmembers for $325, the workshop will be taught at the Sons of Utah Pioneers Building in Salt Lake City. For more information call 269-1691 or e-mail sylj39@gmail.com.
