A jury trial for a man charged with killing an LDS Church missionary from Bountiful has been scheduled to go forward in October.

James R. Boughton Jr., 20, has been charged with the fatal shooting of Elder Morgan Winslow Young, 21, who was going door to door in Chesapeake, Va., with his missionary companion, Elder Joshua Heidbrink, on Jan. 2, 2006.

Police say Boughton also shot and wounded Heidbrink, who survived the attack and returned home to Greeley, Colo.

Boughton is facing charges of first-degree felony murder, malicious wounding, attempted malicious wounding, and three counts of using a gun during the commission of a felony, according to Gus Mojica, police spokesperson for the Chesapeake Police De- partment.

Mojica said Boughton had been set to go to trial in March, but the trial was continued. Along the way, Boughton's defense attorney withdrew, and Boughton got a different lawyer to represent him.

Boughton is being held in the Chesapeake City Jail.

Elder Young graduated from Bountiful High School and attended Weber State University before being called as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His parents, Mark and Kathy Young, told the Virginia-Pilot newspaper after their son's death that he had been considering a career involving computers or teaching, and perhaps attending Brigham Young University.
