Utah Heritage Foundation conference will show how to adapt the past to the present

He's been given a copy of the plans for the City Creek Center and said he will answer questions about that design as part of his lecture. Goldberger said he's quite interested in such large-scale projects. "Whether they pull energy away from the street is something I always worry about."

Goldberger will also talk about the new issues in preservation, for example the increasing importance of preserving modern buildings. A lot of people don't understand why a modern building is worth preserving, he said. People are encouraged to think about new preservation guidelines when dealing with flat roofs and glass walls rather than pitched slate and brick.
