West High is always a solid performer in region play, and this year is no different. The Panthers are relying on solid athletes like Krystal Mascarenas and Courtney Andrews.

Cottonwood is another program playing well, and it has a new coach with a lot of young talent.

"This year we are going to have a very young team with a lot of talent to work with," said Suzanne Oliver, head coach of the Colts. "We are going to be working hard with a big goal in mind."

The Colts are currently 3-4 thanks to the solid play of athletes like Brittany Pruett, catcher; Tawnya Jones, pitcher and outfield; Angie Montoya, pitcher and outfield; and Jenni Nelson, second base.

East and Granger are teams that have struggled but could pull off an upset. The Leopards are led by players like Estee Schmidt and Susan Widdison, while Granger is still working for that first win with a lot of new players.

Region 6 preseason rankings

1. Murray

2. Cyprus

3. Olympus

4. West

5. Cottonwood

6. Granger

7. East

8. Highland
