The Web site includes a list of bullet points that concludes with "respect is to be given to all participants."

Cheney's visit has generated online petitions and campus protests, and the College Democrats student club has petitioned the dean of students for permission to hold a campus protest on the day of Cheney's visit.

An earlier version of the list of bullet points included the phrase "absolutely no display of protest will be allowed." That bulleted-item list was sent by e-mail to students on Friday by the College of Fine Arts and Communications.

The e-mail included all of the bullet points, word-for-word, that were posted on the Web site Monday, plus the now-missing comment on protests.

Jenkins said the e-mail was sent prematurely and language wasn't finalized until Monday.

What if some graduates or other attendees decide to protest, either with signs or by clapping out of turn?

"We will handle those types of situations as needed," Jenkins said. "What we're asking is that those attending will be respectful to all participants."
