Chris Newsom, course professional at Soldier Hollow, said it's not uncommon to get people from Park City who skied in the morning and heard about golfing opportunities in Midway.

"They rent clubs and buy some golf balls and play a round of golf. They came to ski and had no idea they could also play golf. At this time of year I'd say maybe 30 percent of our players are from out-of-state," he said.

"First, they're surprised they can golf and ski in the same day and that the golf courses are so close and so affordable. They come here expecting to pay more and to drive greater distances."

The main point being, of course, that it is possible at this time of year to mix winter and summer, and the combinations are there to suit the interests of just about everyone.
