OGDEN — A former secretary for the Weber School District Foundation will stand trial on charges of theft, forgery and money laundering.

Denise Aughney, 46, appeared Thursday in 2nd District Court for a decision on a preliminary hearing on some of the 57 charges. According to court minutes, Aughney waived her right to a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

A disposition hearing has been scheduled for April 19 for any plea deals.

Aughney is accused of taking nearly $1 million from the fund-raising arm of the Weber School District over the past five years. The foundation has filed a civil lawsuit against her in an effort to recover some of the missing money.
