Activist to oversee open-space program
Lorna Vogt left her job as deputy director of the Harm Reduction Project to take the county post. In the past, she also served as director of the Utah Progressive Network.
Vogt will lead the county in the decision-making process on how to spend a voter-approved $48 million bond for land for open space and parks. The county's Open Space Trust Fund was started to permanently preserve, protect and conserve open-space opportunities.
"Salt Lake County is vitally interested in preserving open space for future generations," Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon said. "Lorna will be in the front lines on developing the needed public-private partnerships to preserve our valuable open space."
