Davis invites residents to open house

LAYTON — Got a question, complaint or advice for county officials?

The Davis County Commission will hold an open house Thursday to talk to residents about the county.

Commissioners Bret Millburn and Louenda Downs, who were elected in November, promised during their campaigns to visit each of the 15 city councils in Davis County to talk to residents and answer questions. Commissioner Alan Hansen has been in favor of the idea for a long time.

The March open house will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at Layton City Hall, 430 Wasatch Drive. The regular Layton City Council meeting will follow the commissioners' open house.

Previous open houses were held in Clearfield in January and North Salt Lake in February. Though few residents met the commissioners in Clearfield, about a dozen turned out for the meeting in North Salt Lake.

Hansen said residents and council members sometimes aren't familiar with county government and its role in providing law enforcement, corrections, libraries, the health department, public works, animal control and tax-collecting services.
