Utah residents who are interested in the conservation of public lands have the chance to become involved in the management of 22 million acres of the state's public land.

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking nominations for five positions in its Resource Advisory Council, which provides advice and recommendations for Utah's public land. Nominees elected to the RAC will serve three-year terms on a staggered basis, with one-third of the council becoming subject to appointment or reappointment every year.

Nominees will be evaluated on their education, training and experience with issues involving public lands. They should also demonstrate a commitment to collaborative resource decision-making. All nominations must be accompanied by a minimum of two letters of recommendation from or organization to be represented, a completed nomination form and any other information regarding the nominee's qualifications.

Nomination forms are available from BLM offices and through its Web site at www.ut.blm.gov. They should be sent to Bureau of Land Management, Utah State Office at 440 West 200 South, Suite 5000, Salt Lake City, UT 84101. Nomination forms and recommendation letters are due by April 2.
