Weight's biggest thrill as a player so far is when she scored 20 points against Springville. When she plays against the Red Devils, she occasionally still hears a person in the crowd call her a traitor, but Weight says it doesn't bother her.

"I don't think they are saying it in a mean-spirited way, just trying to give me a little bit of a hard time — it's OK."

Weight comes from an athletic family. Her father, Jared, played college football at BYU.

"He was always pushing me," she said.

Her older sister, Kerri, played basketball and volleyball and also served as an inspirational role model in her life.

"I stole her jersey number," said Weight of her No. 34.

Another key figure in her development came from former Timpview coach Ray Scott, who Weight says has had the biggest impact on her basketball game.

"Coach Scott really developed my post game, and with him as the coach I really committed myself to basketball."

She also gives credit to another former Thunderbird coach, Wendy Anae, who Weight says last year "pushed her to get better."

Weight, who plans to play at Weber State next season, likes Timpview's chances in the 4A playoffs this week at Salt Lake Community College.

"I'm real excited, I think we can take it," she said.
