Williams doubtful for tonight's game in Portland
Starting point guard Deron Williams is doubtful for tonight's game in Portland due to a strained left groin sustained while playing in last Friday's Rookie-Sophomore Challenge game.
Williams took himself out of the game and afterward had a large bag of ice on the affected area.
Williams downplayed the injury at the time, suggesting it was no big deal.
But Jazz basketball operations senior vice president Kevin O'Connor said Williams did not practice Monday and that he will be re-evaluated today.
Meanwhile, the Jazz also will again be without usual starting power forward Carlos Boozer.
Boozer has been out since sustaining a hairline fracture on the fibula bone head leading into his left knee on Jan. 27. He had hoped to play as a reserve for the Western Conference in Sunday's All-Star Game in Las Vegas but did not because the bone still had not fully healed.
A Jazz spokeswoman said Monday that Boozer definitely will not play tonight, and he is considered "day-to-day" beyond then.
