The plant could also discontinue its composting operation.
Board members will most likely make a decision at their next meeting at 6 p.m. on March 8 at the district building, 6400 N. 5050 West, American Fork.
Pleasant Grove Mayor Michael Daniels said he doesn't feel the need to push the plant to add more odor restrictions now. The plant is already planning to expand and eliminate the smell by the time a new city-propelled hotel and convention center development are built, which was a major concern.
"I take my nose pin off for them," Daniels said. "We're not pushing them to step up the plan because they've shown that they're trying to take care of this."
Although Daniels said he is satisfied the plant will care of the smell before the new development is built, he also said he is sensitive to the impact the odor must have on the area.
"I think they're probably tolerating something that's probably unbearable," Daniels said of those who work or live in the area. "We're all human beings at the end of the day. It has to go somewhere. It's just a matter of dealing with it."
