To celebrate National Darwin Day — in honor of the scientist's 198th birthday — the Salt Lake City Film Center and the Utah Museum of Natural History are presenting a screening of "Flock of Dodos: the Evolution-Intelligent Design Circus" on Tuesday.

The event, at the Rose Wagner Center, 138 W. 300 South, will also feature a post-film discussion with biologist/filmmaker Randy Olson, UMNH chief curator Scott Sampson and BYU evolutionary biology professor Duane Jeffery.

The films draws on Olson's evolutionary biology background and his Kansas upbringing as he explores the controversy over evolution in his home state — which just this week repealed public school science guidelines that had questioned the theory of evolution. The State Board of Education approved new, evolution-friendly science standards in a 6-4 vote.
