Kyle Whittingham confirmed that assistant Jay Boulware has accepted an offer to join the staff at Iowa State, where he'll coach running backs and special teams.

During his two-year stint with the Utes, Boulware coached the tight ends and was co-special teams coordinator.

Whittingham plans to interview candidates soon and hopes to have the position filled by next week. Boulware is the first Utah assistant to leave the program in Whittingham's two seasons at the helm.
