Salt Lake City is looking to fill two openings on its Human Rights Commission.

The commission reviews complaints of discrimination involving city departments or services and reviews city policies and other action "with the aim of advancing human rights and eliminating prejudice and discrimination," according to a news release.

The commission needs one representative who lives in City Council District 4 — the city's downtown — and District 7 — Sugar House and the surrounding area. A map showing detailed council district lines is available at slcgov.com/council.

Commission members must be 18 or older and agree to serve four years. It is a voluntary position. Meetings typically are held the first Monday of each month.

The deadline to apply for the coming year is Feb. 28. An application, available at slcgov.com/boards/forms/apps.htm, and a resume must be submitted to the address listed on the Web site.

More information is available by calling Diana Karrenberg in the mayor's office, 535-7931 or diana.karrenberg@slcgov.com.

The city accepts applications for already filled spots on the board, to be considered when there is an opening, at any time.
