Like Harper, actress Susan Sarandon also brought attention to the impact the war will have on future generations.
"I don't think we are thinking about the veterans coming home," she said. "To toss around 'support your troops' in order to shut people up and not ask questions is really obscene."
Sarandon said that instead of sending a "surge" of troops to Iraq, "They should put a surge into the financing for the troops that are coming home." There is not enough funding for the wounded or those dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder and other emotional problems, Sarandon said.
Actress Rhea Perlman wore stickers saying "Stop Funding Now" and spoke strongly against the Bush administration.
"They want to spread democracy but aren't treating us like a democracy," Perlman said.
She said the head of government should be representative of the people, and when Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney have the "we're going to do it anyway" attitude, something is not working.
"How can you say that when you are in a democracy?" Perlman said.
