Utah secondary school and college students who are into service stand to receive a $5,000 college scholarship in the YouthLINC Young Humanitarian Award program.

Utah's Young Humanitarian 2007 will receive a $5000 college scholarship; four runners-up will receive $1,000 awards.

"Those who serve are generally too humble to seek recognition, but what receives attention in our society is what others will imitate," award program coordinator Terry Palmer said in a prepared statement.

Applications are available at www.youthlinc.org; the submission deadline is March 10.

The award is sponsored by the Chase and the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation.
