• Two-thirds of Utahns say they have no contact with their legislators during the 45-day session, while 22 percent say they may try to e-mail or otherwise talk to their representatives during the 45-day session. Only 6 percent say they talk twice or more to their legislators. A previous Jones poll found that only one-third of Utahns can even name who their House and Senate members are.

• Sixty-eight percent strongly or somewhat agree that the legislator/lobbyist revolving door, where a just-retired lawmaker becomes a paid lobbyist, should be closed for at least two years.

• Seventy-two percent of Utahns strongly or somewhat agree that legislators should not be able to use their campaign funds for personal use.

• Forty-seven percent say the current relationship between legislators and lobbyists is "too close," while 27 percent say the relationship is "about right."

• And 55 percent say that lobbyists have "a great deal of influence" on the way legislators vote on bills. Forty-five percent say those who give to legislators' campaigns have a great deal of influence, 23 percent say a lawmaker's constituents have great influence, while only 18 percent believe that public opinion has a great deal of influence.
