SB36 — Primary seat belt law

Makes not wearing a seat belt a primary offense. That allows police officers to pull over and ticket a motorist for not wearing a seat belt. Current law does not allow a motorist to be ticketed for a seat belt violation unless they committed a different offense first.

HB82—Driving by minors amendments

Allows a motorist under age 17 to drive midnight to 5 a.m. Current law forbids this with some exceptions. This bill also removes a restriction that forbids teen drivers from having nonfamily minors as passengers.
