Oops bicycle store almost a drive-thru
At approximately 3 p.m. on Monday, an older Ford truck smashed into the store's front, breaking the glass window and damaging several bicycles in the shop, which is located at 187 W. Center.
The driver told employees his foot slipped off the brake pedal and he inadvertently hit the gas pedal, accelerating the car into the store, said Justin Reimers, a store employee.
Reimers estimated the damage to bikes hit by the truck at $1,500. Damage to the building is still undetermined but extends beyond the shattered window.
"It looks like there's some structural damage to the concrete and brick," Reimers said.
About three years ago, two cars smashed into the store's window within a week.
"Last time a lady got out of her car and forgot to put it in park and it rolled into the window," Reimers said.
The store may take some preventive measures to prevent future incidents.
"We'd like to do something," Reimers said. "You know, (the) third time's the charm."
