That agent is played by Steven Hill (who went on to play the D.A. in the first decade of "Law & Order"), and his team includes Greg Morris, Martin Landau, Barbara Bain and Peter Lupus. (Peter Graves would take over from Hill in the second season.)

Great fun, with exciting stories and interesting characters, albeit a bit campy from time to time. Guest stars this season include Wally Cox, Lloyd Bridges, Carroll O'Connor.

Extras: Full frame, 28 episodes

"St. Elsewhere: Season One" (Fox, 1982-83, four double-sided discs, $39.98). This quirky, dark and sometimes amusing issues-oriented ensemble medical series — set in a lower-rent hospital in Boston — was a showcase for future superstar Denzel Washington, among others (including current "Deal or No Deal Host" Howie Mandel).

Never a top 10 hit, but with a loyal following, the show remains highly entertaining, albeit soapy, and sometimes a bit sleazy.

Extras: Full frame, 22 episodes, audio commentary (on one episode), featurettes

"24: Season Five" (Fox, 2005-06, seven discs, $59.98). This excellent hour-by-hour suspense series, about the exploits of undercover operative Jack Bauer, has been fabulous from the get-go, and this fifth season is another good one.

Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) comes out of hiding and takes on Russian terrorists but runs afoul of internal conspiracies that go all the way up to the White House. As the president and first lady, Gregory Itzin and Jean Smart especially shine, along with Mary Jane Rajskub as computer wiz Chloe O'Brian.

Extras: Widescreen, 24 episodes, deleted scenes, audio commentaries, featurettes, trailers; DVD-ROM applications

"Married ... With Children: The Complete Sixth Season" (Sony, 1991-92, three discs, $39.95). That blue-collar anti-"Cosby Show" about the vulgar but funny Bundy family has Peg and Marcy both discovering they are pregnant! Guests include Joey Lauren Adams, Matt LeBlanc, Jon Lovitz and Denise Richards.

Extras: Full frame, 26 episodes

"The Dukes of Hazzard: The Complete Seventh Season" (Warner, 1984-85, six discs, $39.98). This is the swan song of this series, which I seriously did not remember lasted seven years! You just can't have too many car chases. Waylon Jennings shows up in the final show.

Extras: Full frame, 17 episodes, tribute to Jennings, new music video (with Tom Wopat, John Schneider, Catherine Bach), featurette

"Survivor: Vanuatu: The Complete Season" (CBS/Paramount, 2004, four discs, $54.99). This is the complete "Vanuatu" series, complete with the two-hour finale and loaded with bonus features.
