If you missed the Utah Chocolate Show, you can tour a local candy factory, if you arrange it in advance.

Sweet Candy Company, 3780 W. Directors Row (1100 South), gives free factory tours (801-886-1444 or www.sweetcandy.com).

Mrs. Cavanaugh's, 835 W. North Point Circle, North Salt Lake (near Exit 28 on I-215, and the Flying J truck stop), gives 45-minute tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Cost is $4 for adults; $2.50 for ages 6-16; ages 5 and under are free (801-677-8888 or mrscavanaughs.com).
