District canvasses bond election votes
More than 50,000 northern Utah County residents cast votes on a proposal to issue $230 million in bonds for new construction and increase the voted leeway by $4.6 million.
The proposals were successful. Sixty-five percent voted in favor of the bond issuance. Sixty-three percent voted in favor of the voted leeway increase.
With the $230 million in bonds, the district plans to fund the construction of a new high school in Saratoga Springs, two new middle schools and five new elementary schools.
Taxes on a $200,000 home will increase over the next four years about $58 for both the bond and leeway. The bonds will be paid of 15 years after they're issued.
