The Ethics of Transparency Conference at the University of Utah has been cut back to one day.

Originally, the conference was to be held Thursday and Friday. However, due to low registration on Friday, sessions were cut.

"They just didn't feel like it was justified to have it on Friday," said Coralie Alder, U. public relations executive director.

Rick Green, principal organizer of the conference, said many other conferences were scheduled during this week, such as the Utah Women's Conference. It is also the week before Thanksgiving.

The conference begins Thursday at 6:30 p.m. with Robert Huefner, the Dalmas Nelson Distinguished Lecturer, as keynote speaker.

His lecture will end at 7:30 p.m., and at 8 p.m. there will be discussion on the lecture.

"From every indication we expect that will be well attended," Green said.

Former Gov. Olene Walker, Katharine Biele, freelance writer and journalist, and Amanda Barusch, professor in the U. College of Social Work, will participate.
